Many ian women were tortured to death in prison simply because they wanted the ability to vote. This magazine cover depicts Joan of Arc, a figure cited by Suffragettes when men in power claimed women didn't fight and therefore shouldn't vote. The purple and green colour scheme was adopted by the Suffragettes as their 'uniform'. |
